The Warmed-Over Boys
is a two-man band consisting of Tom Evans (banjo, harmonica), and Gary Burnette (guitar, slide guitar, and on their CD, upright bass) who have been playing in and around the Charlottesville VA area for the past 4-5 years for both public and private audiences. Their combination of meticulous instrumentation and soaring harmonies have entertained audiences from a wide variety of venues. The BOYS play a vast selection of music including tunes from bluegrass, newgrass, old timey, blues, country and western, and rock 'n roll. They also have a number of their own well-received compositions too.
Gary and Tom came from very different backgrounds to arrive where they are today. Gary, a rocker in the 60's and 70's and a performer in a number of jazz and blues bands since, was raised in sunny Georgia. Tom played in a variety of bluegrass and old timey bands throughout the 70's, 80's, and 90's and hails from snowy, cold Northern New York. Since getting together they have played all over Central Virginia, their audiences feeding off the enthusiasm of their "good time music."
Having performed at civic functions, private parties, local establishments, festivals, etc., the band has proven to be versatile and adaptable to most any situation. It is able to perform with a full PA, a "mini" PA, or un-amplified, at your discretion. Tom and Gary are well known for their ability to move about and involve the audience in their performance and for their significant stage presence.
Today Gary lives in Waynesboro, while Tom resides in his cabin in the woods of Greene County. Both look forward to meeting with you and helping make your next event, whether it be a reception, party, or whatever a rousing success!
