The Montebello String Quartet
The Montebello String Quartet is a violin, viola, and cello ensemble, with a repertoire that ranges from Mozart, Haydn, Bach, and Handel to opera, jazz, and the Beatles. The quartet has been playing together since 2004, and performs regularly at weddings, art shows, receptions, cocktail parties, vineyard and country club events, and other venues. All four musicians are members of the award-winning Charlottesville High School String Ensemble.
Quartet Members
Zoe Ackerman has been playing violin for six years. She currently studies with Julie Wilkinson, and enjoys playing whenever she can. She performed in the Evans Youth Orchestra and the Virginia Junior Regional Orchestra for two years, and for the past two years, took part in the highly selective Virginia Senior Regional Orchestra. With this quartet and other ensembles, she has played at dozens of weddings, parties, receptions, and a Messiah sing-in.
Stella Gibson began playing violin eight years ago, inspired by her two older sisters who have gone on to play violin in college and at the professional level. She began her studies with Betty Gross and continued afterwards with Philip Clark. She has twice been accepted in the Virginia Junior Regional Orchestra, and this past fall in the Virginia Senior Regional Orchestra. She enjoys playing in the Chamber level orchestra at James Madison University's annual Spring String Thing.
Sarah Goldfarb has studied the cello for seven years under Dr. Beth Cantrell. She has participated in the Walker, Buford and Charlottesville High School Orchestras, as well as the Evans Youth Orchestra. She also participated for two years in the Junior Regional Youth Orchestra. She has spent three weeks during three summers studying with Laura Thomas at her Chamber Music Camp. She has received Superior Ratings for two years at the Charlottesville Music Teachers Association Festival. Sarah’s other musical interests include participation in the Virginia Consort Youth Chorale, and private voice lessons.
Rachel Woolworth has been playing the viola for six years, studying under Philip Clark. This fall she was selected as a member of the Virginia Senior Regional Orchestra. Rachel also plays the piano, her true love for 10 years, and is currently studying under Corky Sablinski. She has received various superior ratings at music festivals, guilds and more. Next year she hopes to enter and win the Charlottesville Music Teacher's association Concerto Competition.
